New Placemats for a Fabulous Couple

I am amazed by my machine again. I purchased a new font, Gothic 5 for this custom project.

These placemats are for a couple who married in 1982. The monogram is a combination of their initials.  I dropped the flourish from behind the two smaller initials. Just lovely.

Variety for the Bathroom Linens

A client brought all of her white towels to be monogrammed. Her requirements were the green color and the letters. Everything else was up to me!! I just love it when customers trust my judgement and allow my creative juice to flow. I use 3 embroidery software programs, one of which is Monogram Wizard Plus. I was looking for something Leontine Linens inspired and purchased the Flourishes pack on the needleheads.com site. Boy, am I pleased with the result.

A Coffin Bench... Really!

A good friend proposed an intriguing project recently. She was making a cover for a 4" cushion to sit on top of her coffin bench. Really. She is all about antiques and has some crazy stuff but this takes the cake. The bench is 6 feet in length and the fabric she chose was burlap. A challenge for sure.

So she found some wide artwork she liked complete with scrolls and a crown. We sent that to a graphic artist who returned a file I could digitize. The results were fabulous. Then, Pat finished the assembly and we had success. The only issue now is that she thought it would be a nice luggage rack.mshe is so in love with her creation, she had to purchase a NEW luggage rack so no one will put anything on her custom embroidered bench pad. That's coffin bench pad. Who knew?

A Tee Shirt Quilt for the Football Player

I have made a few tee shirt quilts now. One for my daughter and one for her college roommate's brother. They are so involved, but so loved. Take a look at one...

VERY Large Monograms

These two monochromatic monograms are each 17" wide by 13" high.  I just love the calming presence of this room.  Notice the detailed lampshade and the rustic headboards.

What a fabulous way to pull two stepsisters together.

New Outfits for Bratton

I finally completed two Jon Jon outfits for Bratton. He is getting so tall, I hope they fit!

I sent a muslin to his mother. A size 2 was too short, but a good width. So I added 3 inches to the body and went with that alteration.

A Clean Workspace for the New Year

I decided to clean and organize my shop today.
I thought I would share some of my day.

I collect wooden spools of thread.
They are a thing of the past...all plastic now.

Ikea sells this birch wall mounted drop leaf table for $29.99.
The name is NORBO
See how much work space I gained for a mere sixty bucks.

I find that I am my most creative when I have order and beauty around me.
So, I like to use my empty body cream containers for little things like straight pins and safety pins. An added benefit is that they smell wonderful.
The red and white felt pincushion ring is from Ellas Wardrobe on etsy.com.

My most used tools are scissors, a ripper, a marker and Goody's headache powder.
They all rest on a pretty dish which was a gift from a good friend.

My fabric is orderly...dots, checks, stripes, designs, etc...

Even ribbon adheres to the theory of a place for everything and everything in its place.

One of my best this ribbon roller. It helps keep my ribbon neat and tidy and wrinkle free.

S Hooks are my new best friend.
You can do so many things with them...once again, from IKEA.

I stacked two thread organizers on the wall beside my sewing space.
Very handy.

This fabulous desk and chair is where my wonderful husband sat in his furniture store.
How can you not love to sit and work in something like that?

This interesting piece of furniture is where the furniture store kept its paper records in the early years.
I was lucky that it so perfectly holds my spools of embroidery thread.

One day I may change the drawer labels but for now,
I cannot alter what my husband's father wrote...probably with a REAL ink pen...

Refurbishing

Refurbishing

The new year brings the desire to organize, clean and fix the messes in our lives.
One such project has been to repair the bindings on two wool blankets I have.
They are both from my childhood and very precious to me as well as functional.
